AMD 4

For this AMD, I opted to kill two birds with one stone (auf Deutsch: schlagen zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe), since a music theory assignment of mine required that I analyze a piece sung in German. The song is "Jedem das Seine" from Arnold Schönberg's Cabaret Songs. The song is about a man at a king's military procession on a sunny day, enjoying the festivities until he is stricken by a beautiful woman, whom he attempts to persuade away from the parade. Many of the terms here have to do with marching soldiers, like "hin und her" (to and fro), bayonet (das Bajonett), and troop (die Truppe). There are also many new verbs here used to describe the spectacular atmosphere of the event, like "flash" (blinken), "spray" (sprühen), "glisten" (gleißen) and "shine" (glänzen).
