After reading the first article about Deutschesbier, how often and how much Germany as a nation drinks the stuff, it was almost mind boggling to read that their government is trying to cut back on people drinking in public (115 liters per year is the rough equivalent of two liters per week). Considering that the beer drinking culture of Germany is so ingrained into the public that they drink at breakfast, at work, on their way home, etc., you would think the government would leave it alone. Then again, take the example of the train company that banned open alcohol on its trains. Who knew that cutting out alcohol could get rid of so much crime.
