AMD1 -- Facebook

I, too, put my Facebook in German for a little bit.

It was weird that there weren't as many cognates. I've been shocked that there aren't more, people say German and English are pretty similar as far as languages go but I don't feel it so much. I could pick out a lot of cognates from learning French, I haven't gotten that feeling yet.

I can tell that gefallt das (Such as "7 personen gefallt das") means "...like this." Varenstaltungen appears to mean events. "21 gemeinsame Freunde" means 21 mutual friends. Gruppen means groups. Suche is search. Below each post, it says something like "vor 6 minuten via Handy" which I'm assuming means posted 6 minutes ago via cell phone/mobile.

I don't really feel like Facebook is that much different in German; since everything is still in the same place, I can get by just remembering where things are rather than what they say. I might try to leave it on German for a bit longer and see how it works out.

I don't think I'll try this again, to be honest it wasn't quite eventful. Maybe I'll read a movie or try to read excerpts from the Metamorphosis in its original language. Just some thoughts!
