The authors of the articles seemed very offput by subways! That was something I noticed when a few of them mentioned getting stared at or hearing complaints on the subway. I thought that these little bits of culture were really interesting and kind of amusing!

The statistics article... well, I'm not big on statistics like numbers but I love watching documentaries and this article did mention doing so to be well-informed. So that was fine with me!

My favorite of all of the readings, though, was the one about taking what people say at face value. I sometimes hate the dance that we do in English about what we mean vs. what we say. It's totally arbitrary and the two shouldn't be different! I can really respect the idea that Germans don't need things sugarcoated for them, according to this reading.
